Islamabad, Dec 13: Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (PSX: OGDC) announced a new gas and condensate discovery in the Samanasuk formation, located in the exploratory zone at the Bettani-02 (Slant) well in District Laki Marwat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The company shared this development in a filing with the stock exchange on Friday.

OGDC holds a 100% working interest as the operator of the Wali Exploration License. The Bettani-02 (Slant) well, initially drilled as an appraisal well, reached a depth of 5,080 meters into the Shinawari formation. During drilling, the 247-meter-thick Samanasuk formation was encountered.

A Cased Hole DST-1 test was conducted, with the well producing 2.14 Million Standard Cubic Feet per Day (MMSCFD) of gas and 74 barrels of condensate per day (BCPD) at a choke size of 32/64″ and a wellhead flowing pressure of 435 psi.

This discovery is significant as it marks the first hydrocarbon find in the Samanasuk formation within the Wali Exploration License. It also expands the hydrocarbon play area in the southwestern part of the Bannu Basin and mitigates exploration risks for deeper reservoirs.

OGDCL has developed a comprehensive exploration program for further development, as stated in the filing.
