Lahore: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has implemented a ban on the sale and purchase of inferior-quality Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders.
According to a statement issued by OGRA, marketing companies will face repercussions for distributing LPG cylinders and gas to unauthorized distributors.
The notification indicates that notices have been dispatched to 313 LPG marketing and 19 cylinder manufacturing companies nationwide.
OGRA has introduced a new code of conduct for the LPG industry, prohibiting LPG refilling in non-standard cylinders due to safety concerns.
The notification further states that only authorized distributors will be permitted to conduct LPG business.
OGRA officials emphasized that the frequency of incidents involving the explosion of substandard LPG cylinders has escalated, prompting the delegation of monitoring powers to Deputy Commissioners (DC) and Assistant Commissioners (AC).
