The artificial intelligence company is making this change in an effort to simplify its governance structure and draw in new investors.
CEO Sam Altman is anticipated to get his first share of the company’s ownership as a result of this reorganization.A significant shift in OpenAI’s leadership aligns with the announcement. Longtime Chief Technology Officer Mira Murati made her exit known on social media site X (formerly Twitter). When CEO Sam Altman was momentarily removed off the nonprofit board at the end of last year, it caused a stir. However, he was later reinstated following the involvement of important partners, such as Microsoft.
It is believed that OpenAI is implementing these structural changes in an attempt to simplify decision-making and draw in more funding. But the move also calls into doubt the company’s dedication to its initial goal of creating artificial intelligence that is both beneficial and safe.
The company’s non-profit division will continue to exist and own a small share in the profit company notwithstanding the organizational transition.
