Islamabad, Apr 17, 2025: The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication has successfully trained over 600,000 individuals across Pakistan in various IT disciplines during the fiscal year 2024–2025, as informed to Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif during an in-depth briefing.
Among the total trainees, 49,800 individuals underwent specialized, advanced IT training aimed at preparing them for high-level positions in both the national and global IT job markets.
The Prime Minister instructed the immediate development of a comprehensive strategy to introduce IT education as a mandatory subject starting from grade six across schools in the country.
He emphasized that promoting the IT sector and enhancing technology-related exports are central to the government’s long-term priorities.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of providing equal access to quality education.
He urged provincial governments to collaborate on creating a standardized IT curriculum and training programs for implementation across schools, colleges, and universities.
He gave special attention to launching IT training initiatives in less-developed regions, including Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Balochistan.
The Prime Minister emphasized that these programs should equip graduates with the skills necessary to secure employment opportunities both within Pakistan and abroad.

The meeting also focused on the ongoing School Broadband Connectivity Project, which aims to improve internet services in schools across Islamabad.
The briefing also highlighted the Ministry’s collaboration with Huawei to establish Skills Vocational Training Centers at renowned institutions such as the International Islamic University Islamabad, National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), and COMSATS University Lahore Campus.
Huawei has integrated specialized training in areas like artificial intelligence, cloud computing, big data, and cybersecurity into the curricula at Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute, UET Taxila, and Mehran University Jamshoro.
In a further development, the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, in collaboration with Huawei, will train 146,367 students and upgrade 1,300 laboratories.
The initiative is expected to positively impact communities in Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Key government figures attended the meeting, including Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, Federal Minister for IT and Telecom Shaza Fatima, PM Youth Programme Chairman Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, senior officials, and Huawei CEO Ethan Sun.
