Islamabad, Feb 24: Pakistan delivered a commanding performance at the South Asian Athletics Federation (SAAF) Cross Country Championships 2025, securing double gold in the senior 10km and junior 8km team events at Fatima Jinnah Park, Islamabad.

The host nation dominated the senior 10km race, finishing ahead of Sri Lanka (silver) and Bangladesh (bronze). In the junior 8km event, Pakistan once again topped the podium, with Sri Lanka securing second place and Nepal taking bronze.

The championship witnessed participation from high-profile dignitaries, including ambassadors from Sri Lanka and Nepal and senior diplomats from the Maldives and Sri Lanka.

This was Pakistan’s first time hosting the South Asian Cross Country Championship, making the victory even more significant. Originally scheduled for last year, the event was postponed due to adverse weather conditions.

With this historic achievement, Pakistan has set a new benchmark in regional athletics, and the performance could serve as a stepping stone for greater international success in the future.
