Islamabad, Nov 26: Pakistan and Belarus Pledge to Strengthen Bilateral Relations via High-Level Exchanges and Institutional Collaboration, on Tuesday. Pakistan and Belarus expressed their satisfaction with the present favorable trajectory of their bilateral relations and decided to keep it up through institutional collaboration and frequent high-level interaction.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko, who is now on a three-day official visit to Pakistan, held delegation-level discussions about the bilateral relations. According to a press release from the PM Office, the discussions are indicative of the strong bilateral ties between Belarus and Pakistan.

The two parties talked about significant regional and international developments in addition to the entire range of bilateral relations. The leaders of both nations underlined their shared commitment to advancing bilateral trade and economic cooperation, bolstering inter-parliamentary contacts, and deepening political engagement.

A number of significant agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) intended to promote greater cooperation between Pakistan and Belarus in critical areas were also exchanged between Prime Minister Shehbaz and President Lukashenko.

Cooperation in environmental protection, disaster management, halal trade, auditing institutions, financial intelligence sharing, vocational education, and science and technology were all covered by the agreements and memorandums of understanding.

Signing the “Roadmap for Comprehensive Cooperation between Pakistan and Belarus for 2025-2027,” which provides a strategic framework for strengthening economic ties through high-level meetings, intergovernmental commissions, and focused cooperative initiatives, was one of the meeting’s main results.

During the negotiations, both parties agreed to strengthen the legal frameworks required to support bilateral economic cooperation and emphasized the significance of regional economic integration and connectivity.

The president of Belarus expressed gratitude for Prime Minister Shehbaz’s efforts to advance bilateral relations and pledged his nation’s complete assistance in this endeavor. To strengthen the connection, he also invited PM Shehbaz to travel to Belarus.

The prime minister accepted the invitation and stated that the Memorandums of Understanding will be formally transformed into agreements when he was there. Additionally, he instructed the responsible ministers to take immediate action in this regard.

Later, about 15 separate memorandums of understanding, treaties, and agreements were exchanged between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Aleksandr Lukashenko of Belarus with the aim of enhancing bilateral cooperation in various fields. The agreements that were signed between Belarus and Pakistan included the following: a roadmap for cooperation between the two countries; an agreement on electronic commerce cooperation between the Ministry of Commerce of Pakistan and the Ministry of Anti-Monopoly Regulation of Belarus; an agreement on science and technology cooperation between the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research.

An agreement on accreditation between the Republican Unitary Enterprise Belarus and the Pakistan National Accreditation Council of Pakistan; and an agreement on cooperation between the Office of the Audit General of Pakistan and the Committee of State Control of Belarus.

Additionally, it contained the Memorandum of Understanding between the Financial Monitoring Department of the State Control Committee of the Republic of Belarus and the Financial Monitoring Unit Government of Pakistan; the Memorandum of Understanding between Pakistan Customs, FBR, and the State Customs Committee of Belarus; the Agreement between the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Pakistan Academy of Sciences.

The Agreement between the Government of Pakistan and the Government of Belarus on International Road Transport; the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Natural Resources of Belarus and the Ministry of Climate Change. MoU on cooperation between DRAP, Ministry of National Health Services Pakistan and Republican Unitary Enterprise Belarus for expertise and tests in health services.

The Treaty between the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Pakistan on extradition; the MoU on cooperation in Halal Trade between the Pakistan Halal Authority Ministry of Science and Technology and the Belarusian Halal Standardization and Certification Center of Belarus; and the MoU between NAVTTC Pakistan and the Educational Institution of Belarus.
