Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, along with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan, agreed on Monday to boost bilateral trade volume to $5 billion. This decision came after delegation-level discussions between the two sides, announced at a joint media briefing by the foreign ministers.
During his visit, Fidan was welcomed by Additional Foreign Secretary (Afghanistan & West Asia) Ambassador Ahmed Naseem Warraich.
Highlighting the extensive scope of bilateral relations, Dar emphasized the strengthening cooperation across various sectors, including trade, investment, connectivity, and defense, as well as the growing people-to-people ties between Pakistan and Turkey.
Dar also called for collective action against Islamophobia and reiterated the long-standing defense partnerships between Ankara and Islamabad.
The two ministers addressed urgent global issues, including the Israeli invasion of Gaza, stressing the need for an immediate ceasefire and provision of humanitarian aid. Dar emphasized the importance of establishing an independent Palestine state for lasting peace in the Middle East.
Expressing gratitude for the warm hospitality extended during his visit, Fidan described the discussions with Dar as fruitful. He highlighted the decision to enhance relations not only in trade but also in defense, investment, banking, science, and technology.
Fidan also conveyed condolences on the passing of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Amir Abdollahian. He reaffirmed the commitment to combat terrorism and enhance trade, emphasizing the economic and strategic importance of Pakistan and its neighboring countries.
The Turkish Foreign Minister reiterated the strong friendship and brotherhood between Turkey and Pakistan, pledging mutual support in all endeavors.
