Islamabad, Sep 9: The United Kingdom and Pakistan have decided to begin expanding their strategic collaboration in a number of areas, such as commerce, investment, education, defense, and security cooperation. The agreement was made in London after discussions between Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar and British Foreign Secretary David Lammy.

Reliable sources informed The Nation that during British Foreign Secretary David Lammy’s visit to Islamabad in early 2025, a formal agreement on an improved strategic alliance will be struck. Both nations would be able to have discussions on a range of topics pertaining to mutual cooperation once they signed the agreement, such as commerce, investment, education, defense and security cooperation, and immigration-related matters.

According to the sources, Ishaq Dar also brought up the subject of Pakistani dissidents engaging in anti-Pakistan activities on British land and urged the British government to take legal action against them. Concerns about the delay in issuing British visas to citizens and students from Pakistan were brought up, and Britain promised to investigate.

David Lammy accepted an invitation to visit Pakistan during the discussions; the dates of the visit will be settled upon by mutual consent. Pakistan also wanted to have increased commerce with Britain, and once an agreement for an improved strategic cooperation was reached, both countries would hold talks on this matter.Senator Ishaq Dar, the deputy prime minister and foreign minister, was present at a luncheon at Pakistan House in London that was given by the high commissioner, Dr. Mohammad Faisal.
