Islamabad, Dec 6: The Czech Republic and Pakistan have partnered to establish electric vehicle (EV) production facilities. The goal of this partnership is to advance green technologies and improve trade relations. H.E. Ladislav Steinhubel, the Czech Ambassador to Pakistan, spoke with Ahad Cheema, the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs, about the collaboration.
Before the Pak-Czech Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) meeting in Islamabad in April 2025, the two parties decided to establish Joint Working Groups (JWGs) to concentrate on particular sectors. This meeting will contribute to increased commerce and collaboration, particularly in fields like healthcare, IT, and renewable energy.
Expanding Business Partnerships
According to Minister Cheema, there are 84 million USD in commerce between Pakistan and the Czech Republic. He underlined the necessity of increasing this number, especially in fields with a lot of promise like nanotechnology and green technologies. Additionally, he praised the recent activation of the two nations’ Agreement on Economic Cooperation, which will open the door to further economic cooperation.
Emphasis on Electric Cars
Establishing EV manufacturing facilities in Pakistan is one of the partnership’s primary objectives. The Czech Republic is renowned for its technological know-how, which will aid Pakistan in growing its electric vehicle sector. The plants will be crucial to Pakistan’s initiatives to promote greener transportation and lessen pollution.
