Islamabad, Dec 5: Pakistan Customs has implemented a new regulation that prohibits government officials from using tempered and smuggled vehicles in an attempt to stop the abuse of power. This action is a component of continuous initiatives to guarantee responsibility and stop the misuse of seized automobiles for private gain.
The goal of the program is to allay growing concerns about Customs officers abusing thousands of vehicles that have been seized for personal gain. All No Objection Certificates (NOCs) previously granted for smuggled automobiles used by government officials have been revoked in accordance with the new rules.
The number of smuggled and tempered automobiles that provincial Customs offices are permitted to use has been clearly limited by the government in order to further enforce this policy. While offices in Karachi, Lahore, Quetta, and Peshawar are permitted to utilize up to 10 vehicles apiece, the Islamabad Customs Intelligence office is currently limited to a maximum of 12 vehicles.
This regulation is an attempt to increase the Customs Department’s accountability and transparency. With thousands of seized cars in their care, the new rules should stop Customs officers from abusing them further and guarantee that the cars are only utilized for legal purposes. The government’s commitment to combating corruption and enhancing governance within its institutions is demonstrated by the implementation of these initiatives.
