Islamabad, Mar 28, 2025: Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik and Danish Ambassador to Pakistan Jakob Linulf held discussions on Friday to enhance bilateral cooperation in the energy and mining sectors.

The meeting emphasized investment opportunities and the role of advanced mining technology in modernizing Pakistan’s resource extraction industry.

Danish Expertise in Mining Technology

During the discussions, Minister Pervaiz Malik expressed Pakistan’s interest in leveraging Danish expertise to improve the country’s mineral exploration and processing capabilities.

With vast untapped mineral reserves, Pakistan is looking to adopt modern and sustainable technologies to boost its mining sector.

A key focus was the role of FLSmidth, a global leader in sustainable mining technology, in enhancing mineral processing and cement production in Pakistan.

The company’s innovative approach aligns with Pakistan’s goal of improving efficiency while reducing environmental impact in the extractive industry.

The Minister assured full government support to facilitate Danish investments and technology transfer in Pakistan’s expanding mining sector.

He also invited Danish companies, including FLSmidth, to participate in the Pakistani Minerals Investment Forum scheduled for April 8-9, 2025.

Denmark’s Support for Pakistan’s Energy and Industrial Growth

Ambassador Jakob Linulf reaffirmed Denmark’s commitment to assisting Pakistan’s energy transition and industrial growth.

He expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming investment forum, where FLSmidth will launch BRIMM (Bradshaw Research Initiative for Minerals and Mining) a training program for 100 Pakistani engineers to develop skills in advanced mining technologies.

Highlighting growing collaboration, the ambassador noted that FLSmidth has already signed five partnership agreements in Pakistan’s mineral sector, reinforcing Denmark’s long-term commitment to supporting industrial modernization.

Danish Investment in Pakistan’s Maritime Sector

Beyond mining, Danish involvement in Pakistan’s maritime industry is also expanding. MAERSK, the Danish shipping giant, has pledged a $2 billion investment in a deep-sea port project.

The company aims to support ship recycling and refueling using green ammonia, marking a significant step toward sustainable shipping solutions.

Strengthening Economic and Industrial Ties

With growing Danish investment in Pakistan’s mining and maritime sectors, the partnership is set to drive economic growth, job creation, and technological advancement.

The upcoming Pakistani Minerals Investment Forum is expected to pave the way for new collaborations, reinforcing Pakistan’s commitment to an investor-friendly environment and sustainable industrial development.
