Islamabad, Sep 30: Pakistan Digital Payment Index Set for Rollout

This Pakistan Digital Payment Index will assess how effectively digital payment tools are penetrating various sectors and regions, providing insights into consumer behavior and usage.

It aims to support the country’s digital transformation by measuring the adoption of digital payments through metrics like card and QR code usage, mobile payments, and contactless POS penetration.

The DPI will help policymakers, financial institutions, and stakeholders identify gaps in the system, enabling targeted policy interventions and investments to improve digital payment infrastructure.

Similar initiatives, such as the Mastercard Digital Payment Index in Central and Eastern Europe, offer holistic views of digital payment adoption across countries.

In Pakistan, Karandaaz, in collaboration with the State Bank of Pakistan, will spearhead this initiative.

The DPI will be updated periodically to reflect the latest trends, helping benchmark Pakistan’s progress against global standards.

This will enable stakeholders to make informed, data-driven decisions to accelerate the country’s shift towards a vibrant digital economy.
