Islamabad, Sep 18: Pakistan’s prime minister, Shehbaz Sharif, declared that his country was eager to increase its trade, economic, energy, connectivity, and security cooperation with Russia.
According to a press release from the PM Office, the prime minister told Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk, who paid him a visit, that Pakistan views bolstering ties with Russia as a top foreign policy objective.
The prime minister greeted the team and expressed excitement about seeing his Russian counterpart Mikhail Mishustin in Islamabad the following month, expressing gratitude to President Vladimir Putin for sending the high-level delegation to talk about the growth of bilateral cooperation, and recalling his “very fruitful” conversation with the Russian leader in July of this year.
Thanking the PM for the kind welcome, DPM Overchuk reaffirmed Russia’s commitment to strengthening ties with Pakistan. He described relations between Russia and Pakistan as positive and advantageous for both countries. Both parties committed to keeping in touch on a regular basis.
The prime minister also witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Pakistan and Russia, a sign of the two nations’ mutual understanding and desire to deepen their mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas of mutual interest, particularly trade, investment, energy, information technology, agriculture, science & technology, and education.
