Islamabad, Dec 13: Pakistan has taken some action to provide the security of its citizens stuck in Syria because of the increasing violence in the region. According to the reports over 350 Pakistanis have been received in Lebanon safely.
They have already made arrangements for their journey back to Pakistan; one of them will likely be picked up on a special flight from Beirut Airport in the next two days.
The Civil Aviation Authority has been assigned this task on the orders of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.”
Pakistan Condemns Israeli Actions in Syria
The British Foreign Secretary firmly condemned Israel’s attack and its unlawful continued presence in Syrian lands.
It is important immediately for the international community to intervene and put an end to such provocative measures that are unlawful in nature, said spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch.
Pakistan continues to acknowledge the right of sovereignty of Syrian and committed to the UN Security Council Resolution 497 because peace in the region could only be achieved through the disengagement of Israel from occupied Palestine and Syria.
Coordination with Lebanon for Evacuation
PM Shehbaz emphasized the shutdown of Syrian airports in a phone call with Lebanese counterpart Najib Mikati stressing evacuation through Lebanon.
He called on Lebanon to improve on the issuance of visa for Pakistanis.
Consequently, PM Mikati offered to provide all possible support and assured to grant visas for the Pakistanis and evacuate them.
Apart from this, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called on Pakistani ambassadors in Syria and Lebanon they should provide the necessary support besides expediting visa issues to complete preparations for the early repatriation of around 600 of their citizens.
