Islamabad, 29 Apr, 2025: Indian Cyber Attacks targeting key departments within Pakistan’s federal government were reportedly foiled, according to recent statements from top national cybersecurity officials.
Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, disclosed during a media briefing that several ministries had been subjected to attempted digital intrusions.
These attacks, believed to have originated from India, were effectively repelled without causing any substantial disruption to governmental operations.

While addressing journalists covering the technology and telecom sectors, the minister clarified that no sensitive data was compromised and that Pakistan’s core digital infrastructure remained secure.
She attributed this success to the robust cybersecurity protocols in place, particularly those managed by the National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC), which hosts the official websites of federal entities.
According to Khawaja, the attempted Indian Cyber Attacks did not result in service outages or data breaches.
She stressed that Pakistan’s digital defense teams have continued to issue timely advisories while closely monitoring potential threats.
The minister further explained that Pakistan has formed Computer Emergency Response Teams (CERTs) at both national and provincial levels.
These teams have played a crucial role in enhancing cyber resilience and raising public awareness about digital security.
Khawaja also highlighted the work of the National Telecommunications and Information Security Board (NTISB), which she described as being at the forefront of tracking and analyzing cyber threats against the country. “Pakistan’s capacity to defend its cyberspace has significantly evolved,” she stated.
Emphasizing Pakistan’s growing reputation in digital security, she noted that the country now ranks among top-performing nations in global cybersecurity indexes, alongside advanced economies such as the United States and the United Kingdom.
This progress, she added, demonstrates the rapid development of Pakistan’s technological defenses over the past two years.
Amid ongoing digital tensions between the neighboring states, Khawaja acknowledged the role of Pakistan’s younger generation in countering cyber narratives.
She praised their use of social media as a tool of resistance, noting how humor and creativity have become part of the national response to cyber provocations.
“We have seen our youth respond with memes and satire, showing resilience even under pressure,” she remarked, concluding that the country remains firm in the face of online hostilities.
