Islamabad, Dec 9: Today, people worldwide, including in Pakistan, are observing International Anti-Corruption Day to raise awareness about corruption and encourage action against bribery.

The United Nations established this day in 2003 to promote integrity and accountability globally.

Theme for 2024

This year’s theme, “Uniting with Youth Against Corruption: Shaping Tomorrow’s Integrity,” underscores the importance of youth in combating corruption and fostering transparency.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s Address

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the need for collective action to combat corruption, stating:

“On this International Anti-Corruption Day, let us stand together, united in our resolve to build a Pakistan where public resources are utilized efficiently for the welfare of our people.”

He urged citizens, institutions, and the media to work together to expose corruption and strengthen the rule of law, highlighting that accountability is a shared responsibility.

Global Commitment

The day reminds nations of their pledge to eradicate corruption and promote justice, with the UN encouraging collaboration for a transparent and accountable future.
