Islamabad, Sep 18: Pakistan’s first multi-mission satellite, PakSat-MM1, was successfully launched and is now operating, marking a key milestone in the country’s space program. With the launch of this satellite, Pakistan may now offer space-based broadband services, which is a significant advancement in the country’s technological capacity.

The statement was made alongside the release of Pakistan’s first National Space Policy by Shaza Fatima, the country’s minister of state for information technology. In this new policy framework, the minister emphasized the vital significance of PakSat-MM1 and its ability to transform connectivity throughout Pakistan, especially in remote and underserved areas.

Fatima underlined the satellite’s significance in tackling one of Pakistan’s enduring problems: giving rural areas, where traditional infrastructure development has proven difficult, access to the internet. The minister was upbeat about the revolutionary potential of this technology, speculating that further digitalization could result in important breakthroughs in important areas like healthcare and education.

The CEO of PakSat, Khalid Rashid, and Chairman of SUPARCO, Yusuf Khan, have praised the satellite’s extensive capabilities. They claim that PakSat-MM1 will provide a full range of services, such as data transport, telecommunications, and broadband internet.

It is anticipated that PakSat-MM1 will greatly increase internet speeds across the country, as Khan and Rashid stressed. Furthermore, the satellite’s capacity to deliver 5G coverage solves the long-standing problems of high expenses and logistical difficulties related to establishing conventional telecom infrastructure in remote areas. Khan and Rashid made the audacious prediction that Pakistan’s GDP might increase by up to 2.5% if PakSat-MM1 was successfully deployed and utilized.
