Islamabad, Aug 31: Pakistan’s batting lineup encountered early difficulties on Saturday on the second day of the second Test match against Bangladesh, as Abdullah Shafiq was out for a duck in the opening over.
Shan Masood, the captain of Pakistan, acknowledged that he would have made the same choice if he had won the toss, but Bangladesh won and decided to field.
He added that the team would aim to give their best performance over the course of the four-day tournament. Masood revealed that there have been a few changes to the Pakistani team for the Rawalpindi match.
Fast bowlers Naseem Shah and Shaheen Afridi were noteworthy absences from the playing XI, although leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed and fast bowler Mir Hamza were included. Saim Ayub, Muhammad Ali, Salman Ali Agha, Babar Azam, Saud Shakeel, and Khurram Shahzad were also on the roster for Pakistan.
Rain plagued the first day of the Test, making play impossible and causing a washout. Play on the second day may be prolonged by half an hour to cover the scheduled overs in order to make up for the lost time.
Pakistan is under pressure following their humiliating 10 wicket loss to Bangladesh in the first Test match, where they were outplayed. After losing the second Test early, the squad will be trying to recover and tie the series, but it looks like a difficult assignment.
