The Pakistan cricket team stirred controversy before their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign by hosting a paid ‘private dinner’ in the USA, where fans were charged $25 for a ‘meet and greet’ session.

This move has sparked outrage within the Pakistan cricketing community with former cricketer Rashid Latif expressing dismay on social media over the event organized by the Pakistan Cricket Board and players.

Presenter Nauman Niaz lamented the ‘sad state of affairs’ within the Pakistan team following the controversy surrounding the paid ‘private dinner’.

Additionally, a fan suggested that if the team insisted on going ahead with the idea they should have set a higher price.

Latif emphasized the importance of preserving the team’s integrity, urging players to avoid commercializing their interactions with fans.

He emphasized that while attending official dinners is acceptable they should not be driven solely by financial motives.

Instead, he encouraged the team to participate in charity events or fundraisers to maintain a positive image.
