At the United Nations, Pakistan and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines formally established diplomatic relations on Monday. Ambassador Munir Akram, Pakistan’s permanent representative to the UN, and Ambassador Inga Rhonda King, representing Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, signed a joint communique to solidify this diplomatic relationship.
Ambassador Akram welcomed Ambassador King to the Pakistan Mission, highlighting the longstanding tradition of warm and cooperative relations between the two countries at the UN. He expressed optimism that the formalization of diplomatic ties would further strengthen their relationship, fostering increased interaction between tourists, business delegations, and citizens of both nations. Ambassador Akram commended Ambassador King’s advocacy efforts, particularly her leadership as president of ECOSOC, as exemplary of the significant contributions small nations can make.
In response, Ambassador King expressed gratitude for the warm reception and emphasized the significance of the day as her country established formal diplomatic relations with Pakistan. She underscored the role of the UN in bringing together nations, regardless of size, to work towards a common goal of building a better world. Ambassador King affirmed that Pakistan and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines are strong allies and anticipated that their bilateral ties would continue to flourish with the establishment of diplomatic relations.
The ceremony was attended by Ambassador Usman Jadoon, Deputy Permanent Representative of Pakistan, officials from the Pakistan Mission, and a delegate from Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
