Islamabad, Nov 13: Pakistan Secures Prestigious Global Award for Outstanding Efforts in Tuberculosis Eradication. Pakistan has gained international recognition for its efforts in tackling tuberculosis, receiving the most prestigious global award in the domain.

Dr. Razia Fatima from Pakistan and Dr. Jane Carter from the United States were celebrated for their remarkable contributions to TB control initiatives. The award was presented at a ceremony in Bali, Indonesia, during the World Conference on Lung Health, which was attended by thousands of medical professionals and scientists from across the globe.

On Tuesday, Dr. Razia Fatima, who is the chief researcher and National Coordinator of Pakistan’s Common Management Unit (CMU) for TB, accepted the award. This accolade signifies a historic milestone, as it is the first occasion a Pakistani national has received this distinction. Dr. Razia’s work has not only earned her international recognition but has also resulted in her recent appointment to chair the TB section of the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease.

The announcement was celebrated by the scientific community and Pakistani citizens in Indonesia, who commended Dr. Razia’s achievements and Pakistan’s contribution to addressing global health issues.
