Islamabad, Aug 25: According to figures from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), the number of cellular subscribers climbed from 192.53 million at the end of June 2024 to 192.924 million (+394,000) at the end of July. According to data from the regulator, Pakistan had a rise in 3G and 4G customers from 134.78 million at the end of June to 136.312 million at the end of July 2024.
Cellular teledensity, or the number of connections per 100 people in the nation, was constant at 79 percent by the end of July 2024, although Next Generation Mobile Service (NGMS) penetration climbed from 55.61 percent by the end of June to 56.15 percent by the end of July 2024.
By the end of July, Jazz had 2.897 million 3G users, down from 3.041 million at the end of June. By the end of July 2024, there were 47.993 million Jazz 4G users, up from 47.295 million at the end of June.Zong saw a decline in 3G subscribers from 1.983 million at the end of June to 1.955 million at the end of July, but a rise in 4G customers from 36.665 million at the end of June to 37.153 million at the end of July.While the number of Telenor 4G customers climbed from 24.680 million at the end of June to 24.929 million at the end of July, the company’s 3G subscribers fell from 1.588 million at the end of June to 1.551 million at the end of July.
By the end of July, there were 2.197 million 3G users of Ufone, up from 2.238 million at the end of June. By the end of July, Ufone had 15.975 million 4G users, up from 15.652 million at the end of June. In July 2024, the PTA received 19,188 complaints from telecom users against various telecom providers and cellular providers; 18,994 (or 99 percent) of these concerns were settled.
According to official data, complaints were received in July against a number of telecom operators, including internet service providers (ISPs), long-distance international (LDI) operators, wireless local loop (WLL) operators, and cellular mobile operators (CMOs). These operators were all part of Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL).
A significant portion of all telecom users are mobile cellular subscribers. Thus, this category has the highest amount of complaints. By July, there had been 18,585 complaints against CMOs in total; 18,410 (99.1%) of those concerns had been resolved.
The PTA reports that 6,771 (99.8%) of the 6783 complaints that were filed against Jazz were successfully handled. In addition, 3,198 complaints were filed against Telenor; 3,169 of those complaints (or 99.1%) were settled. Similar to this, Zong was the target of 6,362 complaints, of which 6,323 (or 99.4%) were resolved. 2,118 (95.8%) of the 2,211 complaints that were filed against Ufone were successfully handled.
In addition, the PTA received 162 complaints about basic telephone service, of which 157 had a resolution rate of 96.9% in July after being resolved. In addition, 413 (96.9%) of the 426 complaints that were filed against ISPs were resolved.
