ISLAMABAD, AUGUST 17: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has received an application from the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) asking for a decrease in the cost of power per unit for the month of July.

Under the gasoline price adjustment method, a decrease of 31 paisas per unit has been suggested by the CPPA.
Customers should have a little respite from their power expenses for a month as a result of this possible reduction. The planned cut was justified, according to the CPPA, by changes in gasoline costs in July.
On August 28, Nepra has set up a hearing to consider the CPPA’s motion. Whether or not customers will profit from the lower rate for the designated period will depend on the regulatory authority’s decision.

If approved, this reduction could ease some of the financial burden on consumers, especially in light of the rising costs of living and energy prices in recent months. However, the final decision rests with Nepra, pending the outcome of the hearing.
