Islamabad, Sep 27: Pakistan signs contract for selling JF-17 Block-III fighter jets to Azerbaijan

In a significant development aimed at strengthening bilateral defense cooperation, Pakistan and Azerbaijan have signed an agreement for the sale of JF-17 Block III fighter jets, marking a key milestone in Pakistan’s growing defense exports.

The deal, which follows the recent visit of Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev to Pakistan, will significantly enhance Azerbaijan’s airpower capabilities.

During his visit, President Aliyev was briefed on the advanced features of the selling JF-17 Block-III a 4.5-generation multi-role fighter equipped with AESA radar and Beyond Visual Range (BVR) missiles. Impressed by the aircraft’s performance, Azerbaijan requested a deployment of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) assets to Baku.

In response, a PAF contingent participated in ADEX-2024, showcasing the selling JF-17 Block-III fighter jets capabilities, including long-range deployment and air-to-air refueling.

President Aliyev observed the aircraft’s agility and combat readiness during the event, emphasizing its value for modern air combat missions.

President Aliyev expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s support, noting that this defense collaboration would not only enhance Azerbaijan’s security but also deepen the strong brotherly ties between the two nations.
