Pakistan to Host Commonwealth Handball Championships 2025
An important milestone for the Pakistan Handball Federation (PHF) has been reached when Pakistan was awarded the hosting rights for two major Commonwealth handball competitions.
The first Commonwealth Universities Women’s Handball Championship and the first Commonwealth Men’s Senior Beach Handball Championship will be held in Pakistan next year, according to confirmation from the Commonwealth Handball Association (CHA).
It is anticipated that the Men’s Beach Handball Championship would be held in Karachi; precise dates will be revealed shortly. In order to get confirmation of their teams’ participation by November 15, 2024, CHA has already begun distributing the invitation forms to the presidents and general secretaries of Commonwealth member federations.
Ten players will make up each participating squad, with assistance from a manager, physiotherapist, coach, assistant coach, and head of delegation.
In the meantime, Faisalabad will host the first Commonwealth Universities Women’s Handball Championship in April 2025. The event seeks to foster cooperation, sportsmanship, and fraternity among participating Commonwealth nations, as stated in the CHA mission statement.
Teams must be affiliated with national university sports federations and players must be enrolled or have graduated within the last 12 months in order to be eligible for the Universities Women’s Championship. Teams are required to present documentation of player eligibility and institution affiliation.
These upcoming international handball tournaments will provide Pakistan an opportunity to showcase its sporting potential and strengthen ties within the Commonwealth sports community especially with the Glasgow Games trimming the event.
