ISLAMABAD, AUGUST 15; In order to save time and avoid hassles, Pakistanis living in Dubai and the northern emirates of the United Arab Emirates are urged to renew their passports and National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) cards online.
This was said by Hussain Muhammad, the general consul of Pakistan for Dubai, in an interview with Khaleej Times on Wednesday in honor of the nation’s 77th Independence Day festivities at the consulate.
A sizable portion of the 1.7 million Pakistanis residing in the UAE work and reside in the northern emirates. Many of them go to Dubai from Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain, and other emirates to renew their identification cards and passports.
According to Hussain, the mission cannot accommodate the 900 individuals who come in each day to get passports and up to 400 people who come in to get IDs issued or renewed.
“The mission is heavily burdened with passport issuance and renewals, with about 900 individuals visiting the consulate to apply for the travel document.
Furthermore, as many as 400 individuals show up to get the identity card. Even though the consulate can only hold so many people, we make an effort to welcome and amuse everyone.
I kindly ask and remind all of my Pakistani brothers and sisters that they may easily renew their ID cards and passports online, from the comfort of their own homes.
They don’t need to come to the consulate for renewals,” said Hussain.
He elaborated that there are complete guidelines available about how the documents can be renewed online.
“It is just a matter of 5 to 10 minutes for people to renew their passports and IDs online from their homes,” he added.
Dressed in traditional colourful dresses, hundreds of Pakistanis gathered at the consulate and embassy to celebrate Independence Day.
