ISLAMABAD, JULY13: Pakistan’s auto industry achieved record sales over the past 18 months, with 81,577 cars sold in the most recent fiscal year.

In a stunning turnaround, Pakistan’s auto industry has reached an 18-month high in automobile sales, with a startling 138 percent annual gain in June alone, according to the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA).

10,128 units were sold in June 2024, up from 4,257 units in the same month the previous year, according to the PAMA.According to the association, sales of automobiles larger than 1300cc have increased by a remarkable 174%, while sales of buses and trucks have also increased significantly.

It was previously stated that while the regulatory charge on large cars is set to climb from 70 to 100 percent, the duty on vehicles larger than 1800 cc was projected to rise by 30 percent. Used cars up to 1800cc may be subject to a 15% charge, but new and old hybrid cars up to 1800cc may continue to be duty-free. It is anticipated that the cost of imported secondhand cars will increase in the nation.
