Islamabad, Aug 3: The General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) has released data showing that from January to July 2024, Pakistan’s meat exports to China exceeded US$2.6 million. This noteworthy accomplishment highlights the rising demand in the Chinese market for Pakistani meat products, thereby reinforcing Pakistan’s standing as a major exporter of high-quality meat.

Leading meat exporter and DEA Group Chairman Owais Mir noted that the main export good fueling this expansion has been boiling beef. “Pakistani boiled beef is becoming more and more popular among Chinese consumers because of its competitive pricing and outstanding quality, which makes it a desirable option for importers in China,” the speaker stated.

Mir stressed that this move was a result of Pakistan and China working together to deepen their economic relations. Speaking to China Economic Net, he said, “This growth in meat trade is a testament to the collaborative initiatives by both governments to explore new avenues of cooperation.” “We expect this sector to continue growing, strengthening the two countries’ economic partnership even more.”

Prominent player in the meat and agricultural products sector Chaudhary Javed Saleem voiced optimism regarding the continued upward trend in meat exports. He stated that both governments are dedicated to fostering closer economic relations and looking into fresh chances for cooperation in the agriculture industry.

The nation’s commitment to broadening its export base and boosting its competitiveness internationally is demonstrated by the prosperous expansion of Pakistan’s beef exports to China. In the first seven months of 2024, Pakistan exported 540 tons of cooked beef to China, valued at $2.607 million. At now, China’s top two suppliers of boiled meat are Pakistan and Mongolia, with the former sending 1,640 tons within the same time frame.

Notably, last year the GACC permitted Pakistani businesses to export cooked beef to China; as of right now, three Pakistani businesses have registered with the GACC specifically for this purpose. It is anticipated that the sustained increase in meat exports will support Pakistan’s economy and further strengthen the country’s economic relations with China.
