Islamabad, Feb 13: As Pakistan advances towards a fully digitized trade environment, the government is actively encouraging private sector collaboration alongside regulatory bodies to streamline cross-border transactions.

The ultimate goal is to establish a paperless, automated trade system that enhances efficiency and transparency. This commitment was reaffirmed by Aftab Haider, CEO of Pakistan Single Window (PSW), during a discussion with Asif Parvez, CEO of Galaxefi, and his delegation.

During the meeting, Galaxefi was introduced as a pioneering digital trade solution designed to modernize Pakistan’s cross-border trade ecosystem. Unlike traditional platforms that still rely on manual processes, Galaxefi leverages real-time tracking, automated documentation, and enhanced logistics to ensure seamless transactions.

By integrating real-time technology, Galaxefi aims to eliminate inefficiencies, reduce processing delays, and introduce greater transparency into the trade sector. Its innovative approach is set to replace outdated manual procedures with a fast, reliable, and secure digital framework, significantly improving trade operations in Pakistan.

Aftab Haider praised Galaxefi’s initiative, recognizing its role in the broader vision of trade automation. He emphasized that PSW is committed to fostering private sector participation in modernizing trade processes, aligning with the government’s efforts to digitalize operations across industries.

Despite significant advancements through programs like Digital Pakistan, Uraan Pakistan, and PSW, nearly 70% of private sector players—including freight forwarders and logistics service providers—continue to rely on traditional, paper-based methods. This outdated approach results in increased costs, inefficiencies, and missed economic opportunities.

Manual processing of post-shipment documentation and compliance requirements has long been a bottleneck, leading to revenue losses worth billions. With global competitors swiftly adopting real-time trade solutions to enhance supply chain management, Pakistan must act swiftly to remain competitive.

The discussion also underscored the urgency of embracing cutting-edge trade technologies, a key topic set to be explored at the Pakistan Logistics and Shipping Summit (PLSS) 2025, scheduled for February 20, 2025, in Karachi. The summit will bring together industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators to accelerate the adoption of digital trade solutions and position Pakistan as a regional leader in trade facilitation.
