Islamabad, Oct 3: Paris Fashion Week Louis Vuitton Dazzles with Flouncy, Layered Designs at the Louvre. On Tuesday, the final day of Paris Fashion Week, Nicolas Ghesquiere, the womenswear designer for Louis Vuitton, unveiled a collection of layered ensembles with short, voguish skirts and puffy-sleeved jackets for the brand’s spring-summer debut.
The runway, which was assembled in a makeshift location within the Louvre Museum’s courtyard, was constructed from a collage of trunk facades. It passed through the middle of the room and, as it rose up into a podium, signaled the beginning of the performance.
Out came the models, flaunting tops that were nipped at the waist, their long necklaces and loosely attached neckties swaying. The performance moved at a faster speed as the silhouettes got longer, encompassing loose, bohemian clothing and robe-like overcoats that swept the floor.
Handbags were available in a variety of sizes and styles, and some versions carried multiples that were stacked like jewelry. Dressy heels featured leather patches with a twist in the middle, while casual flats with thick, mismatched leather straps paid homage to the brand’s history in leatherworking.
Bernard Arnault, Chairman and CEO of LVMH, grinned broadly as Ghesquiere bounced down the runway for his bow at the end of the show. Arnault was seated in the front row. The first lady of France, Brigitte Macron, who is renowned for dressing in Vuitton for formal occasions, was seated behind him and sent the fashion designer a kiss.
