Islamabad, Apr 11, 2025: The Pakistan Super League (PSL) has unveiled its tenth edition schedule, adjusting match timings to avoid clashing with the IPL.

As per the plan, day games will begin at 4:00 pm, while night fixtures are set for 8:00 pm. The tournament opener will take place in Rawalpindi today at 8:30 pm.

This adjustment comes as the PSL faces an unusual scheduling conflict with the IPL, which runs from March 22 to May 25.

PSL CEO Salman Naseer recently noted in a podcast that matches have been deliberately scheduled to begin an hour after IPL games, which typically start at 7:00 pm.

Naseer explained that the April-May window was the only feasible period for the league due to Pakistan’s busy international cricket calendar.

With the ICC Champions Trophy set to take place in February and March, he said, earlier dates were simply not an option.

Acknowledging the timing isn’t ideal, Naseer expressed confidence that PSL’s loyal fan base would continue to support the league.

He emphasized the consistent quality of cricket the PSL delivers, adding that international stars like David Warner and Kane Williamson would add further appeal.

The tournament is scheduled to run until May 18. Defending champions Islamabad United will take on Lahore Qalandars in the opening clash.

Rawalpindi will host 11 matches, while Lahore will stage 13 games including the final. Karachi and Multan will each host five matches.

While the IPL’s vast global following presents a significant challenge, PSL officials hope the one-hour timing buffer will help the league retain its audience.

As the first match draws near, PSL X is gearing up to offer fans another season of high-quality T20 cricket, despite the heavy competition on the international stage.
