The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has firmly rejected claims that Chairman Mohsin Naqvi will step down following his appointment as President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).
Speculation about Naqvi’s potential resignation began circulating over the weekend, with reports across sports media and social platforms suggesting that the increased responsibilities from his new ACC role might force him to relinquish his position at the PCB.
In response, the cricket authority in Pakistan issued a statement on Monday, dismissing these rumours as “baseless.”

A senior official from the board confirmed that Naqvi remains dedicated to his duties as PCB Chairman and is not planning to resign.
The official emphasized that there was no truth to the reports, reassuring that Naqvi continues to focus on the growth and development of Pakistan cricket.
Naqvi, who also serves as the Federal Minister for Interior, was elected unopposed as the ACC President earlier this month, marking a significant milestone as the first Pakistani to hold the position since 2008.
His appointment is viewed as a boost to Pakistan’s standing within regional cricket.

The PCB also clarified that managing dual roles at the PCB and ACC is not a rare occurrence, and with proper time management, both positions can be effectively handled.
The official added that it was an honour for Pakistan to have Naqvi leading the ACC, and there are no plans for him to step down from his role at the PCB at this time.
The statement comes after various reports suggested that Naqvi’s new responsibilities within the ACC could impact his involvement with Pakistan’s cricketing affairs.
However, the cricket board remains confident that Naqvi is fully committed to both roles.
