Islamabad, Aug 29: A top officer from the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) human resources department may have a conflict of interest, which the PCB is looking into.

The official’s company was found to have taken part in a recent outdoor billboard advertising bidding procedure, which prompted the inquiry.

In order to prequalify businesses for its billboard advertising campaign, the PCB had issued a call for bids. A company connected to the HR officer was one of the applicants, which raised questions about openness and possible wrongdoing. Following this discovery, the business was promptly removed from consideration for the contract, and an official inquiry was started.

At first, the representative denied having any affiliation with the aforementioned company. But when he was questioned more, he acknowledged his role, which worried the PCB. Since then, the board has established a committee to look into the claims further and conduct a thorough investigation.

According to people with knowledge of the situation, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi is dedicated to maintaining openness, despite claims that some of his colleagues are trying to shield the official. The Chairman has pledged that all decisions will be supported by evidence, and if any wrongdoing is found, strict measures will be taken.

The PCB has decided to hold off on making any public comments until the investigation is over, even though it is still underway. This instance comes after another controversy in which it was discovered that a former director had given contracts to his own businesses; nevertheless, that event was handled independently.
