ISLAMABAD, AUGUST: For the next domestic season, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the addition of Dukes and Kookaburra balls.

The duke’s ball will now be a part of Pakistan’s top first-class events, the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy and President’s Trophy. The dukes ball, which has a noticeable seam and swing, gives bowlers a bigger edge and may improve the abilities of fast bowlers while making things more difficult for batsmen.
The PCB has opted to utilize the Kookaburra ball for ones-day and T20 matches, among other shorter forms. In international cricket, the Kookaburra ball is often used and renowned for its durability and uniformity.

The PCB made this move after lengthy discussions with ball makers in an effort to bring Pakistan’s domestic season standards into line with international cricket. According to the PCB, the addition of these balls will enhance the standard of play both nationally and internationally, as well as better equip players for international contests.

“The use of Dukes balls in our premier first-class competitions will help our fast bowlers develop their skills and adapt to challenging conditions,” a PCB spokeswoman said in response to the decision. Comparably, the Kookaburra ball in the smaller formats will guarantee conformity with international norms, providing our athletes with the greatest training opportunity for international competitions.

Players and supporters of Pakistani domestic cricket are excited to witness the results of this strategic shift, and the 2017 season looks to be an entertaining one.
