ISLAMABAD, AUGUST 20: The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) issued a warning that the current month may see more rain in South Punjab, particularly the Bahawalpur division.
If an emergency-like situation arose as a result of heavy rainfall, PDMA advised the relevant authorities to make the required preparations to conduct rescue and relief operations.

“The coming days are very important as South Punjab may receive more rains due to hydro-meteorological conditions, which can affect downtown areas,” stated Irfan Ali, Director General of the PDMA. But since rivers were not experiencing a high flash flood at the time, he denied that there might be a risk of one.

He gave deputy commissioners and the education department advice on how to keep an eye out for impending rains while paying particular attention to educational institution buildings and other departments. He underlined the necessity of taking immediate action “if building of any school is in very dilapidated condition.”
Recall that the Punjab government’s PDMA, Board of Revenue, and government of Punjab had issued a serious notice asking the administration of every district in the province to stay vigilant in order to deal with a flood-like situation because the area would experience more heavy rainfall during the current month.
