The Peoples Bus Service in Nawabshah is scheduled to begin operations by the Sindh government, next week. Sharjeel Inam Memon, the Senior Minister for Transport, Information, Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control in Sindh, made this announcement.
Memon emphasized that Sukkur, Larkana, Hyderabad, Karachi, and Sukkur have previously had successful Peoples Bus Service operations.Additionally, he disclosed that two new routes would be added to the service in Karachi: a 36-kilometer route from Saadi Town to Merewether Tower and a route from Hawkes Bay to Merewether Town.
Memon reported that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Faryal Talpur’s orders had resulted in an increase in the number of pink buses exclusively for women on different routes in Karachi. He added that Karachi saw the introduction of Pakistan’s first electric bus service. with plans to bring in more electric buses to further ease commuting.
The minister was proud that, during the unveiling of the 2019 federal budget, the federal finance minister had announced the statewide rollout of the pink bus service. He gave the PPP credit for being the first to propose this kind of service.Memon also asked Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister, to keep his word and give the Sindh government 150 passenger buses.
