Islamabad, Dec 3: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is set to resume direct flights to Europe within the next 10 days, initially targeting routes to Manchester and Paris.
The airline has made the necessary arrangements, with flights expected to begin once final approval is received from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
Previously, PIA operated flights to several European cities, including Barcelona, Birmingham, Bradford, and London, and is now planning to expand to destinations such as Copenhagen, Oslo, and Amsterdam. In addition to its European expansion, PIA also intends to reintroduce flights to New York, pending approval from the United States.
To support its international operations, PIA has allocated six Boeing 777 aircraft for use on routes to Europe, the UK, and the US, as part of its efforts to rebuild its global network.
The end of the EASA ban, which had lasted for three years due to safety and licensing concerns, is a significant milestone for Pakistan’s aviation sector.
Defense and Aviation Minister Khawaja Asif praised the decision, noting that recent audits have shown Pakistani airlines outperforming many global carriers in terms of safety and operations.
