ISLAMABAD, AUGUST 7: At the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), robotic surgery will be introduced by the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulation and Coordination.

The prime minister’s coordinator, Dr. Malik Mukhtar Ahmed Bharath, is upbeat about the advantages of this cutting-edge technology for patients. He also emphasized the possibility for foreign job prospects and medical tourism for regional medical professionals.

It is important to note that the Punjab Health Department received a PC-I project proposal from King Edward Medical University (KEMU) earlier this year that included robotic surgery at Mayo Hospital.
With a stated “100% success rate,” this would establish Mayo Hospital as the province’s first public sector teaching hospital to provide this cutting-edge, minimally invasive treatment.

Notably, since 2012, more than 1,500 robotic urological treatments have been carried out by surgeons at the Sindh Institute of urological and Transplantation (SIUT) in Karachi.
