Islamabad, Apr 10, 2025: The first full moon of spring, referred to as the Pink Moon, will grace the skies over Pakistan on Sunday, April 13. It promises a breathtaking spectacle for stargazers throughout the night.
While the moon itself won’t actually appear pink, its name originates from pink wildflowers, known as phlox, which bloom in early spring.
The full moon is expected to rise in Karachi at approximately 9:08 p.m. UTC and remain visible through the night, rising in the east at sunset and setting in the west by sunrise.
The optimal time for observing the Pink Moon will be just after sunset, when it appears larger and brighter near the horizon due to the “moon illusion,” a natural optical phenomenon.

This full moon holds additional significance, being known as the Paschal Moon—the first full moon after the vernal equinox.
This event plays a key role in determining the date of Easter, which this year falls on April 20. Following this, the next full moon, called the Flower Moon, will occur on May 12, 2025.
In total, this year will witness 12 full moons, including three supermoons and two total lunar eclipses. One of these eclipses will be visible in Karachi between September 7 and 8.
