Islamabad, Dec 13: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif gave the appropriate authorities instructions on Friday to lower electricity rates even more and hasten the action plan’s implementation for upcoming power generation projects.
The prime minister emphasized the importance of giving low-cost power projects based on local resources priority while presiding over a meeting to review and debate the nation’s plans for electricity and power.
The premier received updates on the status of the country’s ongoing hydropower projects. According to him, the inexpensive power plants generate inexpensive, environmentally friendly electricity. He said that solar energy should also replace the current capacity for generating electricity.
He said that clean, inexpensive solar energy is being used all over the world to generate electricity and that Pakistan was lucky in this respect because of its enormous solar energy potential.
Additionally, the prime minister received an update on the status of the phase-out of inefficient power plants that generate less electricity but use more fuel. He mandated the prompt shutdown of these antiquated power plants, stating that doing so will lower consumer electricity rates in addition to saving significant foreign money.
The premier gave the order to take prompt action against any personnel purposefully impeding electricity sector reforms. He ordered the electrical transmission system to undergo modifications as quickly as possible.
He gave the order to modernize the power transmission system in accordance with international standards. He also oversaw the prompt installation of a sophisticated technology-based system for the transmission and selection of inexpensive electricity.
The prime minister gave orders to finish all power sector reform initiatives within the allotted time frame. Federal Ministers Sardar Awais Khan Leghari, Ahad Khan Cheema, Dr. Musadik Malik, Minister of State Ali Pervaiz Malik, and other pertinent high officials attended the meeting.
