Islamabad, Nov 30: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has conveyed heartfelt sympathies on behalf of the people of Pakistan to Malaysia following the recent catastrophic floods caused by torrential rains. In a telephonic conversation with Malaysian Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim, PM Shehbaz expressed solidarity and offered unwavering support during this challenging time.
The Pakistani premier lauded the swift and effective response by the Malaysian government to mitigate the impacts of the disaster, which has affected over 140,000 Malaysians. As a gesture of friendship and support, PM Shehbaz announced the immediate dispatch of humanitarian aid to assist the flood-hit regions.
Reflecting on Anwar Ibrahim’s recent visit to Pakistan, PM Shehbaz emphasized the growing bilateral ties and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to fostering collaboration across key sectors. He expressed satisfaction with the resolution of trade issues raised during the Malaysian premier’s visit, paving the way for enhanced economic cooperation.
In a statement shared on social media, PM Shehbaz said, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the flood-affected people of Malaysia. Pakistan stands ready to provide all possible assistance to aid recovery efforts.”
Echoing similar sentiments, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar expressed grief over the tragic loss of life and property, underscoring Pakistan’s readiness to contribute to Malaysia’s recovery initiatives.
In response, PM Anwar Ibrahim extended gratitude to Pakistan, acknowledging the compassionate gesture and inviting PM Shehbaz for an official visit to Kuala Lumpur early next year. The two leaders also agreed to continue high-level engagements to strengthen bilateral relations.
