Islamabad, Nov 6: PM Shehbaz Announces 100MW Power Supply and Rs1 Billion Endowment Fund for Gilgit-Baltistan. On Wednesday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced a Rs1 billion endowment fund for university students as well as the immediate provision of 100 megawatts of electricity for Gilgit Baltistan.

The prime minister, who presided over the GB cabinet’s special meeting during his all-day visit, expressed his happiness and contentment with the prompt construction of the Bubar Model Village, which he had previously inaugurated, in order to offer shelter for those impacted by the 2022 flood.

He gave the GB administration instructions to build parks, educational facilities, power transmission, and other infrastructure in the Ghizer district. The prime minister also established a Rs 1 billion merit-based endowment fund for students at Karakorum University and Baltistan University, in addition to pledging an immediate 100 megawatt electricity supply to GB.

On the model of Punjab province, Prime Minister Shehbaz informed the members of the GB cabinet that the federal government will set up Daanish schools in GB. He said that the welfare and advancement of the people of Great Britain were the top priorities of his government.

He recalled that his government had donated Rs 1 billion to improve GB’s education system while he was the chief minister of Punjab. According to him, the federal government’s collaboration with the provincial governments was crucial for maintaining economic stability.

The prime minister informed those in attendance that the stock exchange had surpassed 92,000 and that the rise in remittances, tax return filers, and inflation were all positive developments for the country’s economy.

He praised the contributions made by all provinces, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and GB to the growth of the country and emphasized the particular attention his government has given to the improvement of GB and the combined districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

The prime minister stated that because the Qatari government had also indicated interest in investing in tourism in Great Britain, the federal government was taking action to boost travel there. GB cabinet members, senior officials, and federal ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Attaullah Tarar, Amir Muqam, and Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui were present at the meeting.
