Islamabad, Aug 27: Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister, has mandated the National Information Technology Board (NITB) to close down right away.The PM office has addressed a letter on the digitization of the PM office and the implementation of E-Office to the Coordinator of Prime Minister Rana Ihsan Afzal and Secretaries of pertinent ministries.
The prime minister gave instructions to install E-Office in the Prime Minister’s Office/Secretariat within three days during a meeting earlier this month.The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication was also instructed by the PM office to begin the legislative process for the National Information Technology Board’s (NITB) prompt wind-down, along with a well-organized plan for the transfer of its assets and activities.
In order to ensure interoperability, the PM office also instructed concerned departments to link the Task Management System with the E-Office program.The strategic automation strategy and change management plan will be finalized by the Minister of Economic Affairs, Rana Ihsaan Afzal, Secretary Cabinet, and Minister of State for IT & Telecom. It is important to remember that the rightsizing committee also suggested NITB be closed along with four other agencies.
