ISLAMABAD, AUGUST 20:  On Monday, Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister, gave the relevant authorities the order to use Gwadar port to transport half of all cargo from the public sector inland by water.
These orders were given by PM Shehbaz during a review meeting on Chinese investment in Islamabad. During the discussion, he was informed about the visit by a Chinese expert delegation to Pakistan from July 30 to August 6, 2024.

The forum was informed that the Chinese delegation held meetings with delegates from multiple ministries, who provided recommendations on how to improve collaboration within their respective domains.
Significant advancements in trade, energy, agriculture, information technology, communication, and infrastructure cooperation and investment were made as a result of the visit.

The forum was informed that during their visit, the Chinese team had discussions with prominent members of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. It was informed that technology transfer, the removal of non-trade barriers, and an increase in exports would be the tasks assigned to Chinese experts.

The gathering was informed that in order to increase the export of Pakistani goods, sector-specific roadshows would be held in different Chinese cities. Chinese specialists will also be hired for technology transfer, improving electro-medical devices, electric vehicles, and other fields.

A Chinese car replacement parts manufacturer recently made great progress in setting up its plant in Pakistan, it was reported to the meeting. The prime minister directed that equal opportunities for students to engage in this program should be extended to those from all provinces.

The prime minister ordered the formation of a committee to supervise the open selection of Pakistani researchers and students for agricultural training in China. The group would be led by Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Reform Ahsan Iqbal.
