Islamabad, July 31: Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister of Pakistan, outlines plans to increase foreign direct investment and IT infrastructure.

A new plan to support Pakistan’s IT infrastructure by luring Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) has been unveiled by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He discussed the government’s commitment to developing artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure in the nation today in Islamabad, during a meeting with a three-person team from the Asia Internet Coalition, headed by Managing Director Jeff Paine.

Prime Minister Sharif underlined his commitment to making Pakistan the AI technology leader in the region. Additionally, he outlined the steps taken by the government to guarantee that everyone in the country has access to dependable and quick internet service.

The government is digitizing every aspect of its system in full, in accordance with the Digital Pakistan Initiative. The Federal Board of Revenue’s digitalization is a significant step forward in this endeavor, as it will open the door for an automated system and a digital economic framework.

Important topics like internet content restrictions, data security, and tactics to stop cybercrimes were also covered in the discussion. The group was also apprised of the ongoing stakeholder discussions over the Personal Data Protection Bill draft.
