ISLAMABAD, AUGUST 2: A new policy for Pakistani students enrolling to undergraduate medical and dentistry schools overseas has been announced by the Pakistan Medical and dentistry Council (PMDC), and it will take effect for the 2024–2025 academic year.

The policy specifies a number of prerequisites that must be satisfied in order to be admitted to these overseas universities.

According to the new PMDC policy, students must fulfill one of the following requirements in order to be admitted:

 

  • Achieve at least 60% marks in FSC (Pre-Medical) from Pakistan.
  • Obtain a minimum score of 550 in each subject of SAT-II.
  • Pass a foreign MCAT/UCAT with at least 50% marks in Biology, Chemistry, and either Mathematics or Physics in a Higher Secondary School Certificate or equivalent.

In accordance with the guideline, students must score at least 50% on the MDCAT, which is administered in Pakistan. If an individual completes their intermediate schooling in Pakistan, their MDCAT results are valid for three years.

Students also need to make sure that the institution they have selected is on the list of authorized institutions maintained by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council.

The degree must be in allopathic medicine from a school accredited by the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) or included in the World Directory of Medical Schools, as well as acknowledged by the nation’s appropriate regulatory authority.
