Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif is set to embark on a five-day official trip to China from June 4th to 8th, 2024, upon the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang. The itinerary includes visits to Xi’an, Shenzhen, and Beijing, as announced by Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch during her weekly press briefing.
In Beijing, Shehbaz Sharif will engage in talks with President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang, alongside meetings with Chairman Zhao Leji of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress and other key government officials. A significant aspect of the visit will involve interactions with corporate leaders from prominent Chinese companies operating in various sectors such as oil and gas, energy, ICT, and emerging technologies.
Additionally, in Shenzhen, the Prime Minister will address the China-Pakistan Business Forum, engaging with business leaders, entrepreneurs, and investors from both nations. He will also visit Economic and Agricultural Zones in China, further strengthening bilateral economic ties.
This visit underscores the robust Pakistan-China friendship, marked by frequent high-level exchanges. Discussions during the trip will focus on bolstering the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership, upgrading the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, advancing trade and investment, enhancing cooperation in security, defense, energy, space, science & technology, and education, as well as fostering cultural exchanges and people-to-people contacts, reinforcing the enduring bond between Pakistan and China.
