ISLAMABAD, AUGUST 5: LAHORE: On Sunday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that whatever China was doing for Pakistan, the US could not match it. He also reaffirmed the need to mend Washington’s relationships without jeopardizing those with Beijing.

After a hectic weekend, the prime minister hosted a meeting at his Model Town home in Lahore with a group of media. Following their formal tour to China at the request of the China Public Diplomacy Association, the journalists had just returned.

During the visit of Chinese specialists to Pakistan, Prime Minister Shehbaz remarked that great progress was being made in promoting collaboration across several areas and that work on the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was moving quickly.

Speaking about “In this regard, we hope for a positive response from China,” he stated.

When questioned on Pakistan-US ties, the prime minister expressed the belief that it was in Pakistan’s best interests to mend its relationship with Washington.

“I believe that improving our relations with the US is imperative for Pakistan. However, China shouldn’t bear the brunt of it. and I had just informed [the Americans] in front of several dignitaries, including Mr. Ishaq Dar,” he clarified.

“In a similar vein, I informed them that our friendship with China does not come at the expense of the United States, since both are important to us,” he explained.

The PM expressed his belief that the US cannot do anything that China is assisting Pakistan in achieving Youm-i-Istehsal. It has been five years since India removed Kashmir’s special status, and today is Monday. The nation will mark Youm-i-Istehsal in observance of their Kashmiri brothers and sisters.
