Islamabad, Oct 1: P@SHA Leaders Pledge to Uphold Legacy of Former Chairman. The recently elected leadership of Pakistan’s IT association P@SHA has expressed gratitude to its outgoing leadership, particularly to chairman Muhammad Zohaib Khan, for his outstanding contributions to the sector and has promised to uphold his legacy in full.
At the most recent Annual General Meeting (AGM), Sajjad Syed, the newly elected Chairman of P@SHA, stated that the outgoing leadership, particularly Chairman Zohaib Khan, set a high standard for new office bearers by demonstrating commitment, selflessness, and hard work, and by passing the baton to us to achieve new industry goals.
He continued, “We are dedicated to pushing innovation and empowering our tech community to put Pakistan at the forefront of the global digital economy.” Muhammad Zohaib Khan achieved historic things during his two-year tenure, which came to an end last month, both locally and internationally.
P@SHA Leaders Pledge to Uphold Legacy at the global level. His accomplishments included setting a record for IT exports of $3.2 billion, hosting the first-ever APICTA awards in Pakistan, serving as the chair of the APICTA judging committee for the first time from Pakistan, securing Pakistan’s observer status at the Digital Corporation Organization (DCO).
Branding Pakistan across 24 countries, differentiating Pakistan at international events like GITEX and LEAP, fortifying ties with Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, and inking Memorandums of understanding with several nations at the state level, including Bahrain, Brazil, and Jordan.
A few of his noteworthy contributions at the national level were the reinstatement of the IT export incentive for IT companies following a five-year hiatus, the extension of the 0.25% corporate tax rate for three years, the creation of Techlift, a program aimed at strengthening the industry’s capacity, the opening of P@SHA offices in three major cities, the collaboration with HBL to streamline revenue.
P@SHA Leaders Pledge to Uphold Legacy and the addition of new member companies from fifteen cities, the 50% retention allowance on foreign currency accounts, and the cooperation with both public and private sector organizations, notably Tech Destination, Pakistan Software Export Board, Ministry of IT, Ignite, NADRA, etc., as well as the inclusion of IT as the preferential sector in the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).
Shaza Fatima, the state minister for information technology and telecommunication, praised the work of the departing central executive committee, which was led by Muhammad Zohaib Khan, for successfully reaching a number of industry milestones and the ministry in particular. She expressed the hope that the new leadership would continue to support the ministry in a manner akin to that of the previous one.
