Islamabad, Feb 20: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), in collaboration with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), successfully concluded a four-day Masterclass titled “5G and Beyond: Shaping the Future of Connectivity” in Islamabad from February 17 to 20, 2025. The event brought together over 60 industry leaders, policymakers, and academics, fostering discussions on 5G deployment strategies, spectrum management, and emerging applications.

Led by experts from the MCMC Academy, the Masterclass featured technical sessions, panel discussions, and knowledge-sharing activities, providing valuable insights into next-generation telecommunications technologies. The collaboration aimed to strengthen Pakistan’s readiness for 5G and ensure a structured approach toward its deployment and optimization.

PTA Chairman Major General (R) Hafeez Ur Rehman highlighted the importance of 5G in driving economic growth and innovation, stating that the initiative reflects a collective effort to prepare for the digital future. He emphasized that Pakistan is committed to leveraging advanced connectivity solutions to enhance technological progress, digital inclusion, and industrial transformation.

At the closing ceremony, the PTA Chairman presented shields to the MCMC delegation and certificates to participants, acknowledging their contributions to the capacity-building initiative. The MCMC team later visited PTA Headquarters, where they were briefed on Pakistan’s telecom infrastructure, toured the NTSOC/Data Center, and participated in a commemorative photograph session. PTA extended special thanks to MCMC’s Executive Chairman and his team for their expertise and support in 5G capacity-building efforts.

This collaboration underscores the strong bilateral ties between Pakistan and Malaysia in the field of telecommunications and digital transformation. The Masterclass also served as a follow-up to the Letter of Cooperation (LoC) signed between PTA and MCMC on October 3, 2024, in the presence of the Prime Ministers of both nations. By reinforcing their shared commitment to overcoming digital challenges and unlocking 5G’s full potential, Pakistan and Malaysia are paving the way for regional technological advancement and a digitally connected future.
